Fellowship
As we share space with a Spanish-language congregation and cannot linger in the church building for fellowship, we all go out to brunch together after worship. Everyone is welcome, and we are happy to pick up the tab for first-time visitors.
We engage in a number of short-term community service projects, including providing food for families with urgent need, providing Christmas presents to local children of low-income families, and helping to pay for school uniforms. As opportunities for service become known to us, we share the need with our congregation so everyone has an opportunity to help. Because we have no paid staff, all of our offerings go to help our community in some way or another.
El Pato
Our relationship with the community of El Pato began when we learned that there was a significant amount of food insecurity in this small village above Nuevo Arenal. We started by donating to a food pantry that was serving the community at the time. We spent much of 2025 helping to build a community garden and a chicken coop. In time for the beginning of the 2026 school year, we completed the school’s new special education room and a wheelchair ramp. During the school year, help is always appreciated with the school’s English club, which provides English education to 20 students in first through six grade. We are currently striving to fund a full-time class-room assistant for the school to continue the transformation of this community.
